Bring a Seminar to Your Church or Area

Sponsor a Confident Kids Seminar

If our schedule does not contain a CK seminar near you, you can bring one to your area.  This generally happens in one of two ways - a church sponsors a CK Seminar individually, or in cooperation with other churches in the area.  Here are the requirements:

  1. Publicity and Registration. The sponsoring church is primarily responsible for inviting people to attend.  There is no minimum requirement for a seminar; you may invite ten people just from your church, or five hundred from the surrounding community - it's totally up to you.  All registrations and registration fees will go to you.  In effect, we simply "show up" to provide the teaching.
  2. Facilities.  Our seminars require a meeting room set up classroom style, a podium, extra tables, an overhead projector, and access to a copy machine (for last minute copies; we bring all seminar materials.)
  3. Food.  CK Seminars generally offer a continental breakfast in the morning, and a light afternoon snack. Participants are on their own for lunch.

Specialized Training Seminar

In addition to our standard Confident Kids Training Seminars, churches may contact us to provide any kind of training they desire.  Here are some of the seminars we have done for churches in the past:

bulletChildren's Ministry Volunteers.  Much of the material we cover in our CK training is applicable to anyone who works with children.  Topics we cover include:
bulletUnderstanding the world of a high stress child, and why they struggle to connect in our traditional children's ministry programs.
bulletBuilding trust and other skills for reaching high stress kids.
bulletHelping high stress kids connect with God .
bulletBehavior and discipline issues with high stress kids.
bulletOther topics of your choice.
bulletSingle Parents. So many of the families who come to our Confident Kids groups are single parent families, that we have created a skill development seminar just for them, focusing on Ten Tips for getting through those areas which most trip up single parents.
bulletBlended Families.  Statistically, 75% of newly created stepfamilies will NOT survive.  As a church, we can make a difference by helping our stepfamilies get through the difficult adjustment period - which last anywhere from four to seven years!  In our seminars for stepcouples, we help them develop the skills they need to make the journey from stepfamily to a true blended family.
bulletFamily Recovery.  Are you working with adults in Christian Recovery groups?  Are your parents looking for ways to make their recovery part of their family life?  Most parents discover a huge gap between how to change their own lives and how to change their life at home. Having grown up without models of what a healthy family is like, one of the biggest challenges for parents in recovery is to provide a healthy home for their own children!  We can help!   NOTE:  We can do seminars for parents in recovery, or train recovery leaders how to provide for family recovery as part of their overall recovery ministry.

Convention Workshops

We are available to do workshops at local Christian Education and Children's Ministry Conventions.  Some of the workshops we have offered in the past include:

1. Where is God When I’m Hurting? Helping Today’s High Stress Kids Connect to God

Stressful circumstances, such as divorce, blended families, death, murders at school, alcohol/drug abuse - and more - effect children’s ability to hear spiritual truths. This workshop explores why high stress kids often disconnect from God, even in our children’s ministry settings! Learn how to recognize and meet their unique needs, including how to talk about spiritual truths in ways they can hear and receive.

2. Children’s Support Groups: Help For Hurting Kids and Struggling Parents

Support groups provide a safe place for hurting kids, and their parents, to talk about their stressful circumstances, discover they are not alone in their struggles, learn valuable coping skills, and receive spiritual guidance. This workshop explores how support groups work, looks at support group resources currently available, and presents a step-by-step guide for starting a program in your church and community.

3. Discipline and Behavior Issues with High Stress Kids

This workshop explores how to discern the difference between “acting up’ (normal kid behavior) and “acting out” (behavior stemming from emotional pain), and why we must treat these two kinds of behaviors differently. Also, learn practical strategies to deal with troublesome acting out behavior.

4. Empowering Struggling Parents

Today’s parents are under more pressure, and more ill-equipped to deal with those pressures, than any other generation of parents in our history. However, they are also the least likely to show up at your parent education classes! This workshop will raise your awareness of what’s it like to be a struggling parent, as well as present a variety of effective ways to reach them.

5. Breaking the Brady Bunch Barrier: Effective Ministry to Blended Families

Do you think that when single parents marry, their troubles are over? Think again! As many as 75% of blended families will not survive! This workshop explores the unique issues confronting stepfamilies, and presents resources and strategies to make your church a place of help and healing for them.

Church Evaluation and Consultation

Do you ever wonder if your church is truly a place where children and families who struggle with life's difficult issues can feel welcome and find hope, help and healing?  Is your church a place struggling families in your community seek out for support and spiritual guidance?  Many churches are not!

We can help you answer this important question, and give suggestions to help your church become that kind of place!  Call the CK office for more information.

Fees

Our standard fee for any of the services listed above is $750 per day, plus all expenses.
